Uterus Atonia
It is a post-natal condition in which the uterus cannot contract after the placenta has been removed. It causes very serious and breakthrough bleedings. It is the most common cause of maternal death during labor. If it is not supported and treated, cardiovascular disorder can develop while inner blood vessel volume decreases. The circulation system fails. Emergency support and treatment is required to rescue the patient.
Uterotonic drugs are drugs used to ensure contraction of the uterus or to increase the contraction frequency of the uterus. They accelerate the labor process; they ease uterus contractions after abortion; they alleviate the hemorrhage developed after labor or abortion.
